2009

"The Haunted World Of El Superbeasto" is an animated horror musical that contains cartoon boobies, nazi zombies, King Kong's corpse, and did I mention boobies? That's pretty much the main idea of this movie: "How do I take horror movie references and find a way to reference them with topless cartoon babes?", and believe you me, Rob Zombie does this well.

The movie begins with El Superbeasto, a Mexican wrestler/actor/director, in the process of making a porno. The opening scene is mainly just him casting girls in this movie by making them take off their tops. Then he proceeds to f*ck them, on film, which is a scene that could make Trey Parker and Matt Stone Blush. You are also introduced to Suzi-X, voiced by Rob Zombie's wife, Sherri Moon Zombie (possible the most badass lady's name ever), and her sidekick Murray (Voiced by Brian Posehn). While El Superbeasto is off making pornos and hitting up strip joints, Suzi-X is off fighting Nazi-zombies. Now the trio's arch-nemesis, Dr Satan (a nerd-turned mad scientist with a monkey for a sidekick) is off looking for a babe with 666 written on her ass. once he finds this lady, he'll marry her and gain all the powers of Satan himself, therefore nobody could call him a nerd. As it turns out, the girl who has the devil's number on her rear is being chased after by El Superbeasto. Her name is Velvet von Black, who is a stripper who can alter her boob size and shape at will. Once she's stolen by Otto, Dr. Satan's sidekick, El Superbeasto tracks her down to come to the rescue (and by "tracks her down" I mean, "make suzi-X and Murray do all the work and so he can gain the benefits").

Now, Suzi-X has to track down Velvet von Black all while fighting the previously mentioned Zombie Nazis, getting naked many times in the process. Eventually the trio wind up at Dr. Satan's lair, von Black marries Dr. Satan for his money, and there's a climatic battle at the end which is too epic for words... okay, actually, NAKED CARTOON LESBIAN CATFIGHT describes it perfectly. All while a song plays with lyrics along the lines of:

"It's all right to jerk off to cartoons
The Japanese do it every day
So rub one out for the USA."

Matter of fact, every song in this movie was hilarious, whether the song is obviously stating what's going on onscreen such as the Zombi-Nazi theme, or descibing a character, like Velvet von Black's theme, the lyrics of which contain:

"She could suck the gay right off a painting of a unicorn."

I really enjoyed this movie. It was mind-numbingly funny, as there was just a barrage of jokes throughout. It was colorful, stupid, and had a funny yet rocking soundtrack. The voice actors (John DiMaggio, Danny Trejo, Rosario Dawson, and Tom Kenny just to name a few that I left out) are excellent and suited everyone's character perfectly. But if there was one thing I had to say I liked most about this film, it was the numerous horror movie cameos, such as The Creature from the Black Lagoon eating out the Bride of Frankenstine, or Michael Myers getting ran over by El Superbeasto's pimped out car. This is no cartoon for children, but I must say it is worth checking out. It's the best thing Rob Zombie's done in quite a while...
