Ghost Rider Review

By: Michael Lee

Starring: Nic Cage, Peter Fonda, Eva Mendes
Year:
2007

Why "Ghostrider" should have been good: Everybody (and by everybody I mean only the people that would actually be on this site) knows who Ghostrider is: A former stunt man turned bounty hunter from Hell, and with that premise, this movie could have been epic! The possible epicness was emphasized by the casting of Nic f*cking Cage as Johnny Blaze, the said stunt man who thinks he's Elvis and can turn into a flaming skeleton bounty hunter from Hell, and Eva Mendes, who ALWAYS takes the time to show off he assets (read: boobies), as his love interest. What the Hell could go wrong?

What went wrong: everything.

I'm pretty sure the only good thing about this movie was Sam Elliot, who obviously didn't even want to be there. It's also obvious Peter Fonda should not have played Mephistopheles, or any other character in any other movie ever again. Eva Mendes got second billing but no characterization whatsoever. Nic Cage, okay he gave an exelent performance of sh*tty dialogue (now you mist realize that when I say "Nic Cage gave an excelent performance" I mean he gave an excelent performance for those of you who like his excelently over th top and sucky performances, like myself). The main plot of this movie was for Ghostrider to stop Peter Fonda's son, who is trying to unlock 1,000 evil souls via some sort of evil contract and become uber evil, which is kind of pointless if your father is someone who can damn a man and make him a superpowered flaming skeleton, but who am I to say how evil someone can become?

Final thoughts: The movie was meh. Nothing memorable at all, Nic Cage excluded. It's a 3, and really it might be worse. I don't remeber nor care as Eva Mendes had her shirt buttoned down most of the movie and that distracted me quite a bit.
