Inglourious Basterds Review
By: Chris Akins
Starring: Brad Pitt, Eli Roth, B.J. Novak
Year: 2009
Quinten Tarrentino is one of my favorite directors, next to Robert Rodriguez. So when I heard about his new movie I was immediately psyched, despite having no idea what it was about. Then I saw the trailer with Brad Pitt giving his Nazi killing speech and I was ten times more phyched. There was no way this movie could suck right?...
RIGHT! In the Tarrentino fashion, this movie is full of long badass speeches, fantastic characters, wickedly sick humor, and chicks that kick ass. It's divided into chapters, alternating between a serious a tense storyline of a Jewish girl who escapes death to exact revenge, and the story of the Basterds. The Basterds are a group of Jewish American soldiers under the command of Brad Pitt who is nicknamed the Apache for wanting the scalps of the Nazis they kill. Every scene featuring Brad Pitt and the Basterds is downright awesome and hilarious. In all honesty, I think the serious chapters are only there to prevent this movie from being labled a comedy. It's almost like watching two movies, "Anne Frank Strikes Back" and "The Wonderful Misadventures of Brad Pitt and his Merry Men" both of which are excellent. And did I mention it's narrated by Samuel L Jackson? Cause it is.
What makes this movie so perfect is that you don't really mind the utter brutality being dished out by the basterds because it's being done to Nazis and f*** those guys. I wish I could go on about the ending, but believe me when I say, you'll want to see that for yourself. I can tell you that it makes no sense in history and yet is one of the best endings I've ever seen in a movie. 9 stars, this is Tarrentino at his finest (with the exception of Pulp Fiction).

9 out of 10 Nerdism Nerds.
