Disturbia Review

2007

Disturbia Has Been Called A Modern Day Remake Of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Rear Window" And Personally, I Enjoy Disurbia More. Shia Labeouf Is A Great Actor. This Movie Probably Wouldn't Have Been All That Good If Shia Didn't Act Like He Does. I Remember Watching "Even Stevens" On The Disney Channel When I Was 7 Or 8. I Thought He Was Hilarious And Was Probably The Only Reason I Watched the Disney Channel At That Point. I Liked His Small Role In "iRobot" As Well, However It Shocked Me To Hear Him Swear. In This Movie, Shia, Playing A Kid On House Arrest Named Kale, Doesn't Swear As Much, But He Is Very Funny. I Know The Movie Is A Thriller. It Just Doesn't Present Itself As One. The First Two Acts Are Set Up As A Teen Comedy With Just Hints Of Horror Thrown In And Its Really Works For "Disturbia". Once The Movie Does Shift Into The Horror Genre, The Director Really Knew Not To Over Work It, To Keep It Simple, To Make It Still Feel Like The Same Movie. I Think The Chick In This Movie Was Gorgeous And The Scene Where Kale And Ronne Spied On Her Swimming Was Great. I Also Though The Scene Dipicting Kale Under House Arrest With System Of A Down's "Lonely Day" Playing In The Background Was Great And A Mid-Movie Twist Involving Ronnie Was Hilarious. Overall, It Surprised Me That A Horror Movie Involving Teenagers Could Be So Well Made, And This Movie Will Go Down As One Of My Favorites.
