Hellboy II: The Golden Army Review
By: Michael Lee
Starring: Ron Perlman, Selma Blair, Seth MacFarlane
Year: 2008
For A Guy Who Looks Like The Devil, Hellboy Is A Really Likeable Superhero. Well At Least I Think He's A Superhero. He Has Comic Book, And Now Two Superhero Movies, But He Seems More Like A Man In Black Than A Superhero. He's Funny, Witty, And Just A Little Narcissistic. He Works For The Bureau For Paranormal Research And Defense, Which Is Supposed to Secretly Fight and Protect The World From Supernatural Beings (This Does Sound Alot Like "Men In Black") But Thats Pretty Hard To Do When Hellboy stops to Pose for Photographs. He's Is A Great Character And Brings Alot Of Humor To Almost Every Scene He's In. Especially When He;s Drunk. Ron Perlman Was A Great Choice to Play Hellboy. I Like Golden Army Just As Much As The First "Hellboy", And Both Movies Deserves More Attention Than They Get. Guillermo del Toro (Who Directed "Pan's Labyrinth" And The First "Hellboy") Returned For This Movie, Filling It With Amazing Visual Effects, Possibly The Best In Any Superhero Movie To Date. The Creatures In This Movie Are Also Something To Point Out. Each One Looks Beautiful, The Angel of Death Really Stands Out In This Category, And I Felt That The Troll Market Scene Was Reminiscent Of The Cantina Scene In The Orginal "Star Wars", Both Filled With Oddities And Both Brung You Into An Entirely New World That You Are Not Used To. The Golden Army Was A Fantastic Movie And del Toro Has Proved Himself To Be An Excellent Story-Teller And I Can't Wait To See What His Next Movie Will Be.
