The 10 Greatest Death Scenes In Action Movie History
By: Michael Lee
The 20 Greatest Death Scenes In Horror Movie History Was Nerdism Very First Editorial, So It's Only Proper To Do A Follow Up About Action Movie Death Scenes. Now Action Movies Are Noted For Their Over The Top Fighting and Killing, And While I Admit, Most Of My Choices Were Based Around The Fights That Lead Up To The Deaths, I Based My Descisions Upon How Shocking, Gory, Intense, Or Down Right Brilliant Each Death Was. Most Of These Actually Don't Involve A Single Death, But Many, Many Deaths Spread All Out Over In Totally Awesome Fight Scenes. Now, Stop Reading My Blabber And Watch These Awesome Action Movie Death Scenes:
10. ROBO-COP- THEY KILLED KENNY!
Poor Kenny. Killed By A Defunct ED 209. But What A Spectacular Way To Go.
9. THE DEER HUNTER- RUSSIAN ROULETTE
Christopher Walken and Bobby De Niro Star In This Scene, Which Most Of The Scare Is In Anticipating The Outcome. You Spend The Whole Movie Getting To Know These Characters, And Now One Of them Has To Die... You Don't Know Who, All You Know Is Walken Has Lost His Mind, And It's A Shame To See Him Go when He Finally Get's It Back
8. THE DARK KNIGHT- HOW 'BOUT A MAGIC TRICK?
This Is My Favorite Part Of My Favorite Movie. It's So Shocking, So Unexpected, And Yet, You Feel Like You Should Have Expected It. It's Not Gory, Like "Saw", Nor Is It Really That Violent, Yet It Still Gives Me Both Chills And Laughs Everytime I See It
7. PULP FICTION- DEATH BY TRAVOLTA.
"Ahh Man, I Shot Marvin In The Face...", This Line Is Arguably The Greatest Line In This Movie. Just The Way John Travolta Says It. Plus Any Scene That Involves John Travolta, Sam Motha F*ckin Jackson With A Goatee And An Afro, Heavy Religion Talk, Carless Weapon Control, Exploding Heads, And The F-Word Every 3 Seconds Can't Not Be Excellent.
6. THE BOONDOCK SAINTS- THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT!
Ah, Willem Dafoe. You Will Forever Make This Scene Great. While An Earlier Fight/Death Scene Involving A Rope And A Room Full Of Mobsters Was More Entertaining To Me, This Fight Was Much More Savage, And In My Opinion, Dafoe's Nearly Perfect Retelling Of The Story Based On The Evidence At The Crime Scene Made It. Finger Guns And All.
5. PUNISHER- NO, NOT VENGANCE. PUNISHMENT...
The Punisher Will Always Go Down As One Of My Favorite Movies. It Was Realistic, Gritty, And Had Just The Right Amount Of Violence (The New Punisher Movie Needs To Take Some Lessons Here). Plus The Good Guy Got His Vengance ("No, Not Vengance. Punishment...") In One Totally Killer Ending Scene. Let's See John Travolta Dance His Way Outta This One
4. KILL BILL VOL. 1- THE BRIDE TAKES ON THE CRAZY 88
It's Uma Thurman Slaughtering A Whole Bunch Of Ninja Mobsters. Awesome, Fo Sho.
3. RETURN OF THE JEDI- SO I GUESS THE MOST BADASS BADASS IN ALL THE GALAXY IS A GOOD GUY NOW
But Could You Blame Him? The Emperor Was Killing His Son And Such. In All Honesty, After Seeing How Anakin Acted In The Prequels, I'm Surprised How Nice And Level Headed Luke Grew Up To Be. Uncle Owen And Aunt Beru Sure Could Raise 'Em Right, Even If They Wouldn't Let Him Go Out To Toshi Station. Well, Anyways, Luke And His Father Just Dueled It Out On The Second Death Star. Vader Loses, And The Emperor Sees This As A Perfect Oppertunity For Luke To Embrace His Dark Side. When He Refuses, Sh*t Gets Real. Second Away From Death By Old Person Lightning, Luke Is Seaved By His Father,And Palpatine Gets A First Class Trip To The Second Death Star's Nuclear Reactor Core.
2. TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN- THE DEATH OF OPTIMUS PRIME
It Just Wouldn't Be Transformers If Optimus Prime Didn't Die At Least Once In Every Series, But He Has Never Gone Out Like This. Trying To Protect Sam From The Evil Decepticons, Optimus Single Handedly Takes On Megatron (The Silver One), Starscrem (The Other Silver One), And Grindor (The Other Silver One That Happens To Be A Helicopter) And Totally Wrecks Them Until A Cheap Stab By Megatron Brings Him Down. This Was The Most Epic Part Of The Transformers Sequel, And Don't Worry, Good Ol' Prime Gets Revived Just In Time To Save The Day At The End Of The Movie.
1. RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK- CAN'T WE JUST SHOOT THE F*CKER?
Classic. Nothing More. Nothing Less. This Is The All-Time Best Indiana Jones Moment, And Personally, It's Probably One Of The BEst Movie Moments Ever!
