Marvel is vastly superior to DC. Most everybody understands this. However, viewers of Marvel's movies with a keen eye will realize just how very little difference there has been in the latest movies' heroes and villains. The Dark Knights, arguably the world's best superhero film, finds similarities in the contrast between the Joker and Batman, and use them to tell the story. However, Marvel takes the different route by making the superheroes fight stronger versions of themselves. Let's take a look shall we:
1) Spider-Man and Venom (Spider-Man 3 - 2007)

Of all the characters in this list, Spider-Man and Venom are the only two whose origins are different from each others. Spider-Man is a nerdy high school/college kid who was bitten by a mutated spider. Venom is an alien symbiote who must find a host to drain energy from and survive. The comparisons start here. Venom's first host is Spider-man himself, who becomes an aggressive wife beater and jazz dancer once the alien attaches its self to him, but is quickly removed when Peter realizes how lame he is acting. Searching for a new host, Venom finds Eric Foreman, er... Eddie Brock, who like Peter, is a social reject, freelance photographer, and is planning on marrying a girl Peter is attracted to. Once the symbiote and Eddie become one, Eddie takes on the appearance of a black Spider-Man with a mouth, and develops all of Spidey's powers, just with an evil black twist. Spidey eventually kills Venom with a bomb, something Spidey has been dodging since his first run in with the Green Goblin way back in 2002. So there is one thing Spider-man is superior to than Venom. F*cking over death (you'll see this is a common trait among the heroes).
2) Iron Man and Iron Monger (Iron Man - 2008)

First off, you'll notice right away that Obadiah Stane is a bigger, fatter Tony Stark. Tony is rich. Obadiah is rich. Tony is a technical whiz. Obediah is a technical whiz. Tony has hair. Obadiah not so much, but he did have a better beard so it evens out. The biggest difference however, is that where Tony would rather be feared and respected, Obadiah would rather be feared. So when Tony gets kidnapped by terrorists and goes all McGuyver upon the only part of Iran Hollywood knows about's ass, it would only be fair to assume Obadiah would want the same. So he travels to the Middle East, discovers Tony's Iron Man proto-type, and then builds a bigger version of his own, which considering how big the Mark I Iron Man suit was, is pretty enormous. Once Obadiah reveals his Iron Monger suit to the world, Tony, clad in his fancy new gold and red Iron Man suit, darts off to the rescue, utilizing the one bug in the original suit that only Tony (and probably every high school environmental science student) knows about (things freezes if they fly too high into the atmosphere) and shuts Obadiah down for good.
3) The Hulk and The Abomination (The Incredible Hulk - 2008)

The Hulk was once just a meek scientist named Bruce Banner. Emil Blonsky was just an arrogant soldier who got a little taste of power. After each had a little taste of super soldier serum and radiation, Banner and Blonsky turned into the Hulk and The Abomination respectively. Of all the duos on this list, the Hulk and the Abomination favor each other the most, while their alter-egos differ greatly. Honestly, the two monsters are like Bayformers, nearly impossible to tell apart while they quickly move in battle, the only difference is the the Abomination's disfigured shape and spiky spine... And his weakness to chains
Wolverine and Sabretooth (X-men Origins: Wolverine - 2009)

Wolverine and Sabretooth have the greatest excuse for being so alike, since they're brothers. Both have incredible healing factors, retractable claws, age at an extremely slow rate, and have animal-like instincts. They only major difference is that Wolverine has adamantium grafted to his skeleton, thus covering his bone claws into metal while Sabretooths Meg Griffin powers... Well, become no cooler than Meg Griffin. Sabretooth makes up for this lack of adamantium with his size, though he still fails to ever beat Wolverine. However, this doesn't stop him from slicing and dicing most of of the rest of the mutants in the movie. In the end, they both pussy out and fight together to stop Weapon XI who in no way, shape, or form is Deadpool, before Wolverine's memory is wiped and Sabretooth runs off to fight Wolvie another day. This duo is the most evenly matched of the list, yet Wolverine will forever be ten times cooler.
